  • Top 5 baby products you will not regret buying…

As a momma I completely understand how overwhelming it can be when getting everything together for when your little one arrives and honestly even since having my little boy there are so many products that have come out that I didn’t have and we are only talking three years ago. I wanted to put together a list of my top 5 baby products that are definitely worth buying. I have chosen products that I used with my son that I wouldn’t have been without but also I am including some that many of my clients I have brought with them into the studio. In my line of work you pick up on all these new amazing gadgets that are on the market now so please feel free to save this list or share it with your baby shower guests. I promise you won’t regret it….. 1. Owlet Smart Sock The Owlet Smart Sock wraps around your baby’s foot to safely and accurately track Baby’s Sleep Quality Indicators, including heart rate, average oxygen level, movement, and wakings. For a mother I cannot recommend this product enough for me I was a very anxious first time mom and at nighttime my anxiety would be sky high but with this device I knew if at any point his oxygen level dropped or he was in distress I could be alerted straight away and honestly this gave me so much comfort and don’t get me wrong I still checked him a million times a night but that’s what mothers do. I can honestly say this very clever technology is a life saver…. LITERALLY! https://owletbabycare.co.uk/products/owlet-smart-sock 2. Nuby’s RapidCool portable baby bottle maker Nuby's RapidCool baby bottle maker is perfectly portable, no filters or fuss and follows NHS guidelines. This is one of the most amazing products for bottle fed babies and can cool down and prep a bottle within 2 minutes I mean that is crazy. This is one of those products that just amazes me every time as I wish this was around when we switched to bottle feeding when my little boy born as it would of resolved some very stressful situations with a very hangry baby. https://nuby-uk.com/rapidcool-i53 3. Silver Nursing Cups – Nipple Shields Nipple silver cups are small cups crafted out of pure 925 silver that fit over and help to protect nipples while breastfeeding. This is a great alternative to creams for cracked and sore nipples as no chemicals transferred to the baby from breastfeeding. You can also use these as preventive measure to avoid irritation cuts, soreness, or cracks that are caused by breastfeeding. Silver nursing cups are again one of those products that I wish I knew about when my son was born. The healing properties of the silver an incredible alternative to the well branded creams out there and I have to say definitely I must have for all your breastfeeding mommas. https://amzn.eu/d/8IdvCmw 4. Nasal Aspirator In those first few weeks most babies tend to suffer a little bit with the sniffles as their little immune systems are getting used to the outside world. It can be so difficult to know what to give to them in the first 3 months as you have to be so careful on what they can have in terms of medicine like nasal drops and sprays. A nasal aspirator is a device which helps clear your little one's stuffy nose quickly and gently when they're feeling bunged up. It is a tool in which enables you to remove the mucus from your little ones nose without causing them distress and even when they get to toddler age I still use mine every winter. https://www.boots.com/braun-nasal-aspirator-1-10315762?cm_mmc=bmm-buk-google-ppc-_-PLAs-_-Health_Pharmacy-_-UK_Smart_Shopping_Health_Pharmacy_Google&gclid=Cj0KCQjw48OaBhDWARIsAMd966D-1_FQQEFIynwluYx4kZThwIZrpyXQ94ZBYNzhTU57_KhW7M3flg4aAqmtEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds 5. Doona Infant Car seat Now this is one of the most convenient and clever designs I have seen in a long time. The fact that this car seat doubles as a stroller that you don’t need to assemble is mind blowing. The wheels simply fold back in to the car seat itself I mean how incredible is that, One simple motion operation and it goes from Car Seat to Stroller in seconds. When becoming a new parent the key is convenience so all the products you want to use should make your life easy and this product definitely does that. Also it’s worth mentioning that this car seat meets all the required safety and quality measurements which are enforced in this country so the safety of your little one is no way compromised in this clever design. https://doona.shop/products/doona-infant-car-seat-nitro-black So there you go guys my top 5 must baby products don’t forget to save and share this list with your family and friends so they know what to get you as baby shower gifts and please leave any comments below. Thanks guys Steph x x x

  • Newborn Safety Training and Mentoring session with Cass Davis Photography

So last week I had the most amazing mentoring session with Cass Davis who is an inspirational newborn photographer and is also a trainer for newborn safety during posing. When I first read about this training it was so important for me to understand what I need to look for when posing a newborn baby. It is unbelievable that still in this modern world that anyone could pick up a camera and call themselves a newborn photographer without going through any training on the safety aspect of working with a newborn baby. For me this was key in making sure my clients understand how seriously I take the safety of their babies and I understand what poses I can preform in a safe and comfortable way for the baby and the new parents who are watching me. We worked on everything from the correct environment for the baby regarding temperature and music to help soothe the baby to what work flow will work for me and my level of experience. Within My workflow we have looked at the correct way to pose the baby and what trigger points to look at such as the circulation of the hands and feet, the position of the hips and the rate of the babies breathing. Prior to this mentoring session I also did an online safety training sesssion which is also ran by the amazing Cass and these video are a great tool as it breaks down each pose and it was this training session which then lead me into then having a mentoring session with Cass herself. Here is my certificate that I obtained from my online training which I feel is a basic for any Newborn Photographer. Here are some of the photos from the day demonstrating the layout of the posing and the supports needed around the baby to make sure they feel happy and secure. I think it is really interesting to share the way in which we can create all of these beautiful photos. I will be sharing in another blog post soon some of the images I have captured from this mentoring session and they are really beautiful. I hope you guys enjoy this post and I look forward to sharing the images from this session soon. Thank you Steph x x

  • Studio precautions & measures for COVID-19

For me as a photographer and as a business owner it is really important to outline the regulations I have put in place during these certainty times as the safety of you and your family is my biggest priority. I want to make sure you and your family find your experience both comfortable and enjoyable so here are the precautions and regulations I have in place for when you visit my studio for you chosen session. They include: If at any point before or after your session you feel you have any of the COVID-19 symptoms please get in contact As soon as possible so we can make sure everyone who attended the session goes into self isolation for 14 days. If due to COVID-19 symptoms the session has to be cancelled we will make sure this is rearranged as soon as the isolation period has finished. When you arrive at the studio I will ask if you can please remove your shoes to make sure the studio space is kept as clean as possible for you and your family. I will limit my sessions in the day to give me plenty of time for cleaning and sanitising the studio, props and outfits. All fabric backdrops are washed in between sessions and all outfits are steamed cleaned between sessions and all props are sprayed down with disinfectant. I will be wearing cotton gloves throughout all of my sessions. I have decided to go for cotton gloves over rubber gloves as I feel there are more gentle on the babies skin. I will have disposable gloves and masks for you to wear during this session when not in the photographs if you don’t have your own. Inline with the new government guidelines when you arrive with to your session please make sure you wear your mask throughout the session. I also do ha e visors that are sterilised between each session. I will be asking for your assistance when posing babies over due to social distancing so I am working to the government’s guidelines. For newborn sessions I will be wearing cotton gloves and a mask or visor as a I will be in close contact when posing your baby. I will have hand sanitiser and a facility where you can wash your hands. I will washing and sanitising my hands regularly throughout the session and if you could please sanitise your hands on arrival and on departure from the studio. I will not be able to serve any snacks or hot drinks but I will be supplying sealed bottles of water. The studio will be ventilated prior to your session and during sessions where possible to increase the airflow. In the mean time if you have questions regarding the session please don’t hesitate to ask me. I’m looking forward to meeting you and photographing your beautiful family. Thank you Steph
